Captain Alpertunga Anıker graduated from İTÜ Maritime Faculty deck department in 1987 and worked on trade ships in public and private sector. Captain Anıker, who started to work as a pilot in Ambarlı port in 2003, has been continuing the same duty in the Gulf of Izmit since 2008. In addition to the books he has written and translated in Turkish and English, he also writes articles on maritime affairs, recent history and literature.
