Freight rates for 6,000 tonnes of grain shipments from Reni and Izmail to Marmara may have risen from $19/tonne last week to $21/tonne.

In the Far East, daily rates continued to hover around $13,000/day. Closing the week with sales again...

This week, the 2021 Japanese-built 66K DWT “Jal Kalpavriksh” and “Jal Kalpataru” were sold in bulk for over $32.5 million each. The 2016 Japanese-built 63K DWT “DSI Drammen,” equipped with a flue gas cleaning system, went for $25 million.

The 2013 Japanese-built Supramax vessel “Krait” changed hands for $16.85 million. The 2013 Chinese-built “Sagar Kanya” was also sold for the same price. The fact that both ships were sold for the same price was due to the “Sagar Kanya” being a NACKS-built vessel. The 20-year-old 2005 Japanese-built “Elizabeth River” was sold for $9.8 million.

Looking at handysize sales, the 2010 Japanese-built 33K DWT “Global Mermaid” sold for $11 million. The 2011 Chinese-built “Vega Everest” changed hands for $9.2 million. Another 2011 Chinese-built handysize vessel, the “Sea Sapphire,” sold for a low $8 million.

No sales of coasters were reported this week either .

We bid you a great week ahead…
